Pre-admission clinic

Appointments: 03 9709 2777

The Pre-admission Clinic was established with an aim to provide thorough and dignified patient care commencing prior to their proposed procedure continuing through to admission.

The two main aims of the Pre-admission Clinic are to:

  • Effectively prepare the patient for their procedure through education
  • Meet the legal requirements for informed consent.

The clinic provides the opportunity and time for patients to discuss the proposed procedure prior to being asked to give implicit consent.

The Pre-Admission process involves:

  • The patient receiving advice on such issues as medications based on current hospital policy
  • Provision of the appropriate preparation solution for colonoscopy - based on the patient's medical history
  • Checking the patient's insurance eligibility and explanation of the patient's financial obligations
  • Consent to procedure
  • Confirmation of appointment dates and times
  • Provision of upcoming procedure details on the process he/she will be going through during their admission.
